- Archival for the purposes of meeting legal obligations

- Intelligent life-cycle management of data. Essentially this is data mobility based on policies.
- Meta-data:
- Additional piece of data attached to data. This may be extended user meta-data that provides information about the data or administrative data that says what should be done with the data.

- Archival for the purposes of providing online reliable storage to massive amounts of unstructured or fixed-content data over a period of time.
- Private Cloud Storage:
- New storage architecture that uses industry standard x86 servers with sophisticated software to build scalable and reliable storage instead of using proprietary storage.
- Storage apps:
- Storage applications that are run on the storage node instead of moving data to a server, processing it, and writing it back.
